This week a team of six people from Birmingham Community Church are traveling down to Guatemala and the village of San Juan Moca. This is the place where we provide scholarships for children to be able to continue their schooling. They are working with our friend Pastor Rafael to promote a pastor’s conference we will help lead later this year.
They will be working alongside a guy named Jeremy who works with Phoenix Roasters, formerly Phoenix Community Coffee in Duluth, GA. Phoenix was our first partner and introduced us to our work in Guatemala. Jeremy lives in Guatemala and will help us with translation and some logistics. We look forward to growing our partnership with Phoenix and if you are interested in supporting our friends and local farmers you can order some of the delicious Guatemalan coffee from the area where we work through their website. Our teams members can only bring so much back with them so this is the way you can continue to enjoy this coffee all year.
Please be praying for our team as they get ready to travel. Pray for their safety in traveling to and from Guatemala and also to the places they’ll visit while in country. Pray that the local pastors they reach out to will be receptive to the idea of a unified effort to help reach the people in the village through working, praying, and sharing resources with each other. Pray that they’ll have a blessed time with the people from the Mount Sinai Baptist Church in the village of San Juan Moca. Pray that through this trip they will grow closer to God and develop a deeper desire to serve the nations and not be content with status quo consumerism that is a cancer to the church in America. And pray that God will receive all the glory through the work they will do.
In addition to the team traveling to Guatemala we are happy to have a new video update from Pastor Rafael about our scholarship program:
Education Scholarship Updates from the English Connection from Canvas Bag Media on Vimeo.
If you are interested in becoming a part of helping the children in Guatemala please see the information about our scholarship program on our Donate page.
Thank you for your continued support of The English Connection.
